Come meet the Red Storm men’s and women’s basketball teams, along with Head Coaches Chris Mullin and Joe Tartamella, at St. John’s University on September 22, 2018 for the 8th Annual Dribble for the Cure!
We are committed to raising awareness and dollars to help save the lives of children battling cancer - last year's event had a record breaking year, raising over $100,000. Proceeds raised from this event will be directed to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation in support of the Pediatric Cancer Research Laboratory at New York Medical College. The PCRF Laboratory is directed by Mitchell S. Cairo, M.D., also director of the Children and Adolescent Cancer and Blood Diseases Center at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
This is a fun-filled day, where participants will be given the opportunity to bring their own basketball and Dribble for the Cure on a course winding through the St. John's Queens campus and ending at Carnesecca Arena. The event will kick-off with a festival featuring the St. John’s cheerleaders and band, games and refreshments, and culminate with an opportunity for photos and autographs with the players and coaches. Each participant will be asked to collect pledges for their “dribble” and will be eligible for prizes based on the amount of pledge money turned in by the date of the event. In addition, each participant will receive a Dribble for the Cure t-shirt.
Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation has utilized a social fundraising platform for more than a decade. It increases awareness of our mission, and it increases funding for the ever expanding footprint that PCRF is developing across the nation. Less than 4% of NIH cancer research dollars are spent on pediatric cancers. For far too long, babies and children have been receiving scaled down adult treatments that often leave survivors with lasting effects and a very high probability of additional cancers in the future. At PCRF, we stand vigilant in our mission to fund research that improves the care, quality of life and survival rate of children with malignant disease. Thank you for joining in the fight.
